AI Policy

RIAM: Research in Applied Management recognizes the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in academic writing and research activities. The journal supports the ethical and responsible use of AI tools while maintaining the principles of transparency, academic integrity, accountability, and originality in scholarly publishing.

Use of AI Tools by Authors

Authors may use AI-based tools (such as language editing, grammar checking, translation assistance, or data analysis support) to improve the readability and quality of manuscripts. However, the use of AI tools must comply with the following principles:

  1. AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the content, integrity, or originality of the work.
  2. Authors remain fully responsible for:
    • the accuracy of all information,
    • originality of the manuscript,
    • proper citation practices,
    • interpretation of findings,
    • and compliance with publication ethics.
  3. Any substantial use of AI tools in the preparation of the manuscript must be disclosed transparently in the manuscript, typically in the Methods, Acknowledgment, or a separate Disclosure section.
  4. Authors must not use AI tools to:
    • fabricate or falsify data,
    • manipulate research findings,
    • generate misleading citations or references,
    • produce plagiarized content,
    • or engage in unethical publication practices.
  5. Confidential or sensitive data should not be uploaded into AI systems if doing so may violate privacy, confidentiality, copyright, or institutional policies.

Use of AI by Reviewers and Editors

Reviewers and editors must maintain confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and should not upload manuscript content into AI systems that may compromise author confidentiality or intellectual property rights.

AI tools may be used in limited ways to support editorial processes, such as language checking or plagiarism detection, but editorial decisions must always involve human judgment and responsibility.

Ethical Compliance

RIAM reserves the right to request clarification regarding the use of AI tools in manuscript preparation. Failure to disclose inappropriate or unethical use of AI may result in manuscript rejection, retraction, or other corrective actions in accordance with publication ethics standards.
